scopeish

What is it?

An IRL icebreaking app.

scopeish shows you the profiles of other people using the app who are physically near you, and shows your profile to them. Profiles stay visible for about 2 hours after someone leaves, then disappear.

Tap around —
it works.

This is the app, running in the page. Switch tabs, flip to Passed, open anyone’s page and star them. The people in it are made up for the demo.

People around ~500ft.
Blink, the hourglass character

The right person at the right time.

  • Someone to drink with on your last day at a convention.
  • A way to meet people when you’re new to a city.
  • A startup partner at a tech meetup.
  • Your first introduction to a group of college friends.
  • Getting to know the people in your class.

What other people can see.

The part that is different from most apps, so it is worth knowing before you start.

Your profile, nothing else.

Your name, photo, bio and links. Never your coordinates, your address, or how far away you are.

Gone after 2 hours.

Profiles stay visible for about 2 hours after someone leaves, then disappear.

Stars are anonymous.

You see how many you have, never who sent them.

Blocking works both ways.

Block someone and you disappear from each other, immediately.

No location history.

One current location per account, overwritten each time it updates.
